Gentoo on Inspiron 1501

Having tried Debian Lenny, Debian Squeeze, Ubuntu 10.10 and Ubuntu 11.04 over past 2+ years I'm back to Gentoo. And what am I seeing now? Gentoo has been moved to baselayout2 and OpenRC, without properly updated stage3 tarball and with out-of-dated Handbook and Quick guide. Which leads to non-bootable OS.

Well, that's a challange! Let's go for it!

About CPU freq governors

Funny, but "conservative" governor acts just as "powersave" on Mobile Sempron, keeping frequency as low as possible even uneder heavy load. I guess, i'll stick to "conservative" on batteries and "ondemand" for AC power.

A lot of work to be done!

I haven't yet finished playing with Gentoo, so I really don't know if I should post my experiments here.

This site is dedicated to Gentoo installation and usage on DELL Inspiron 1501

Though, i'm a newbie to Gentoo and even to laptops, you may find something useful.

I do understand, that my English is far from good. Feel free to correct me, wherever you find mistakes.
